Anna Siciliano

Anna Siciliano

Anna Siciliano Collection is truly remarkable for her the ability to combine tradition with innovation: its ancient and precious art of weaving, handed down by generations only by Siciliano family and the visionary capacity to adapt it in design and contemporary fashion.
The unicity of her clothing is the attention to details, the craftsmanship and the desire to seek and use new fabrics, playing with colors.
Her philosophy is to always use simple and natural materials, such as the rush marsh, which grows wild in coastal areas; but also myrtle, olive, rods, all made following the long preparation timesand the old techniques, using only her hands.
The rush weaving is to use an activity practiced in the small village of the province of Lecce, mainly made by women who curved in chairs, spent hours to weave rush wires, as well aswove the threads of their lives and affections.
Considered an art poor and dangerous (because rush grows in areas infested by malaria) was soon abandoned. Only Siciliano’s family continue working in the name of tradition, succeeding in giving new life to rush, making  it noble and adaptable to everyday uses: sports, bags, baskets, fans, household items, home accessories, and more, as well as for clothing inserts.
Combined with leather, laces, metal and fabrics such as linen, silk or cashmere (all produced by local artisans) manage to make the clothes of Anna Siciliano really unique pieces, allowing to link the past to the future.
